Kwadwo Baah was shown a straight Red after taunting Portsmouth fans with the 'Take the L' dance from the famous video game.
Watford's Kwadwo Baah stole headlines for all the wrong reasons despite his side’s 2-1 victory over Portsmouth on Boxing Day.
The German forward of Ghanaian descent was sent off after the final whistle following a taunting celebration aimed at away fans that caused a frenzy at Vicarage Road.
The Championship match was already laden with tension after Watford came from behind to secure three crucial points.
Baah played a pivotal role in the home side’s comeback, earning a controversial penalty after being caught by Freddie Potts.
Initially dismissed as a goal kick, the referee reversed the decision upon consultation with the linesman, despite replays suggesting the foul occurred outside the penalty area.
Edo Kayembe coolly converted the penalty to level the score, and Rocco Vata sealed the win in extra time with a clinical finish past Nicolas Schmid.
Yet, it was Baah's antics after the whistle that overshadowed the hard-fought victory.
Kwadwo Baah’s 'Take the L' dance sparks outrage
After the final whistle, Baah, 21, approached the away section and performed the infamous 'Take the L' dance from Fortnite, mocking Portsmouth fans.
This gesture ignited chaos, with some supporters attempting to storm the pitch while stewards scrambled to maintain order.
After the game, Portsmouth manager John Mousinho was livid, calling Baah's behaviour a “sackable offence.”
He also criticised the referee, claiming the officiating had fallen far below Championship standards.
"I'm furious because we need more. This isn't good enough at this level," Mousinho said as per Daily Mail.
Watford manager Tom Cleverley, though critical of Mousinho’s comments and touchline behaviour, did not also excuse Baah’s actions.
"We’ll handle KB internally," Cleverley said, emphasising the need to win with humility and dignity.
With Baah now facing further disciplinary action, his post-match antics have left fans and pundits debating whether youthful exuberance might have just crossed the line into unsportsmanlike conduct.
