Brazil finally claimed revenge on Ghana after the African nation defeated the Samba Boys in the previous final played two years before.

Former Ghanaian footballer Johnson Eklu has made shocking revelations about the circumstances surrounding Ghana's 1997 U17 World Cup final defeat to Brazil.

A Brazil team that featured Ronaldinho came from a goal down to defeat Ghana 2-1 in the final thanks to Matuzalem and Andrey finding the back of the net.

Ghana had previously triumphed over Brazil in the 1995 edition of the FIFA U17 World Cup to lift the trophy; however, in 1997, Brazil fought back to exact revenge.

What Eklu said about the 1997 final

Eklu, a key player for the team, was unable to participate in the final due to a red card he received in the quarterfinals.

He remains convinced that the team was capable of winning the tournament had it not been for external factors.

According to Eklu, the team's coach, Emmanuel Kwasi Afranie, had prior knowledge of their impending defeat, attributing it to spiritual sabotage by certain individuals within the football community.

"Coach Afranie secretly told me that Brazil would beat us. He mentioned that some football leaders and coaches had used "juju' to sabotage the team.

"He shared this information with me, and it turned out to be true after our loss to Brazil in the final, Eklu said during an interview with Ernest Brew Smith on his YouTube channel."

This revelation has sparked discussions and debates among Ghanaian football fans, who have long pondered the reasons behind the team's unexpected loss.
