Bring back Mourinho! Chelsea fans call for Pochettino sack after Everton defeat

Chelsea fans are losing patience and faith in Mauricio Pochettino fast, with calls for him to be fired circulating the internet just five months into his reign at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea’s terrible form this season, which continued in the 2-0 defeat to Everton, has seen fans of the club call for the sack of Mauricio Pochettino, and some have suggested the return of Jose Mourinho as the solution to the perceived managerial problems.

Chelsea’s struggles

The defeat to Everton at Goodison Park was Chelsea’s third straight defeat away from Stamford Bridge, and it has seen them sent down to 12th on the log.

The poor string of results have come despite the sizable investment the club has made in the last few transfer windows, including, more recently, over $400 million this summer.

Chelsea have struggled to put up an adequate level of performance consistently, and this angers fans of the club, prompting them to seek change or even a return to the familiar.

What Chelsea fans said

"Pochettino is not going to turn Chelsea around. He needs to leave urgently! He has too much talent to fail this much. Other managers have delivered with so much less. This is not the Chelsea I want to see,” one fan said, per Football London.

A second fan added, saying, It's just a question of whether Chelsea sack Pochettino now or at the end of the season."

A third fan, who believes Mourinho is the solution, said, “It's just a question of whether Chelsea sack Pochettino now or at the end of the season."

A fourth said, “He finishes his contract at Roma in May. On July 1st, I need him here as Chelsea manager for the third and final time to build a foundation and set some real Chelsea DNA at this club again. Get ready to come home, Jose.”

Meanwhile, the 60-year-old is currently in charge of Roma and his contract with the Italian club runs out at the end of this season, which makes him potentially available for yet another return to Stamford Bridge.
