Arsenal and England winger Bukayo Saka has responded to critics after suggestions that he should be used at left-back by Gareth Southgate

England have been disappointing at the ongoing EURO 2024, despite qualifying top of Group C.

The Three Lions stumbled to a 1-0 defeat over Serbia in their opening game, before playing out consecutive draws against Denmark and Slovenia.

After the game, England boss Gareth Southgate came under heavy criticism, with several fans and ex-pros offering advice on the best way forward.

Bukayo Saka says left-back role is not the solution

Arsenal legend Ian Wright suggested Bukayo Saka be moved to left-back to make room for Chelsea player of the season Cole Palmer.

That suggestion divided opinion, and the player himself has now commented on it.

“Putting me out of position at left-back is NOT the solution for England, but it’s in Gareth’s hands & we all have to trust what he selects on the day."

Saka has contributed just one assist in his three games so far, failing to register a single shot on target.

Perhaps it is time for Southgate to give Palmer a chance to show what he can do.
