Bukayo Saka equalized and scored in the penalty shootout against Switzerland

Bukayo Saka was the star as England staged a thrilling comeback against Switzerland in the Euro 2024 quarterfinals, securing a spot in the semifinals after a dramatic penalty shootout on Saturday.

The match started with Switzerland taking an early lead through Breel Embolo, but Saka leveled the score in the 80th minute with a crucial goal.

His composure extended into the penalty shootout, where he confidently converted his spot-kick, contributing to England's flawless performance from the penalty spot.

Reflecting on the victory, Saka spoke to the BBC about the significance of the win. "I am going to put it up there, special," he said. "How we fought back and to go to penalties."

Recalling England's heartbreak in the Euro 2020 final, where he had missed a penalty, Saka revealed his determination to make a difference this time.

"Last time we took a penalty shootout at the Euros we know what happened. I believed," he emphasized. "I felt like we dominated the whole game and the chance would come and I took it - I am proud of myself for that."

Saka, who faced racial abuse on social media following the Euro 2020 final, shared his personal strength in overcoming adversity. "I have faith in God," he affirmed. "To come back from something like that is really difficult. Today I took the chance."

With England advancing to the semifinals, Saka's performance has not only redeemed past disappointments but also showcased his resilience and skill on the international stage.
