Burundi lost 1-0 to Kenya in the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup back in 2017, and the goalkeeper is eyeing revenge against them when they meet in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers this Friday.
Burundi goalkeeper Jonathan Nahimana has warned his teammates not to write off Harambee Stars seven years since suffering defeat to them at the 2017 CECAFA Challenge Cup.
Burundi were beaten 1-0 by Kenya, ultimately halting their dream of clinching the regional title.
Nahimana, who has earned 34 caps for the Swallows, believes that both Burundi and Kenya have the potential to return to the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and secure a ticket to the World Cup.
As the experienced goalkeeper who was in goal during the 2017 match, he is expected to keep his place in the upcoming 2026 World Cup Qualifier against Kenya, which will be played at the Bingu National Stadium in Malawi on June 7.
