Busiro's historic win will undoubtedly go down in the annals of Masaza Cup history, and the team’s supporters will be celebrating long into the night.

In a historic final at Muteesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku, Busiro secured their first-ever Masaza Cup title with a deserved 2-1 victory over Buddu.

Substitute Kafumbe Masuudi scored the winner late on, silencing the Buddu crowd and sparking jubilant celebrations among the Busiro faithful.

Isaac Ofoyrwoth opened the scoring for Busiro in the 42nd minute, capitalizing on a defensive mix-up by Buddu.

However, Buddu quickly responded with an equalizer just before half-time through Denis Kalanzi's header, prompting the Busiro's players and technical staff, to protest that Kalanzi was offside when he scored.

Busiro came out the stronger side in the second half, asking questions of the Buddu defence and creating several opportunities.

The pressure paid off in the dying moments of the game when Masuudi found the back of the net with a well-placed shot, securing a historic win for Busiro.

"This victory is for everyone involved with the club - the manager, players, fans, and everyone who has supported us," said a delighted Busiro Coach Simon Peter Mugerwa after the match.

The triumph marked the end of a long wait for Busiro, who had previously lost in the final to Bulemeezi in 2019.

Their impressive performance throughout this year's tournament, including a thrilling semi-final win over Ssingo, earned them a prize of Sh12m and the chance to host the opening game of the 2023 campaign.

Buddu, on the other hand, were left to rue their missed opportunities and their failed attempt to become the first team to defend the Masaza Cup title.

Despite having some good moments in the game, including Kalanzi's near-miss, they were unable to find the back of the net in the second half and ultimately fell short.

Overall, the final was a closely contested and highly entertaining affair, with both teams putting on an impressive display of football.

Busiro's historic win will undoubtedly go down in the annals of Masaza Cup history, and the team’s supporters will be celebrating long into the night.
