The result lifts Busoga United to 12th in the Uganda Premier League with 23 points, four above the red line as BUL stretch their winless run to 8.

Ibrahim Kazindula and Laban Tibiita scored from the spot in either half as Busoga United and BUL shared points in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League derby on Friday at Kakindu.

The match started slow but BUL gradually picked up and could have gone ahead in the 20th minute after namesakes Ibrahim Mugulusi and Nsiimbe combined before laying a pass for Reagan Kalyoowa to bury in but fluffed it.

The winger went for a non-stop shot instead of controlling when he was unmarked inside the box.

The edible oil makers got their chance two minutes later under controversial circumstances after referee Paul Turyamureeba pointed to the spot after judging Walter Ochora to have been pulled in the box.

The defender was attempting to run into the crowd to meet a cross from the left.

Kazindula stood behind the ball and sent the keeper the wrong way.

Busoga gound themselves in trouble once again at the half-hour when their custodian Michael Lutaaya failed to deal with Isaac Isinde's back-pass opting to grab it as Mugulusi mounted pressure on him.

Mugulusi and Kazindula took charge of the indirect freekick but their effort was blocked leaving the visitors with a slim lead into the breather.

Second half drama

The second half returned with more drama of its own. The referee awarded a penalty to the hosts after a handball appeared to have blocked Tibita's pass to Rashid Mpaata.

Tibita converted the penalty to level matters.

The striker, who was later named man-of-the-match had another chance ten minutes later but opted to pass when he was clear in goal.

Bashamu Mugwa who received the pass attempted a shot but Saidi Keni stretched wide to tame it.

Tibiita made another move three minutes later when he dribbled through then set Peter Onzima inside the box from the side. The latter was hacked down by Richard Ayiko with the referee pointing to the spot. Keni guessed the side that Tibiita had taken his first kick to grab it and force the sides to share spoils.

Trouble for BUL

A section of the away fans stormed the pitch demanding Simeone Masaba's technical bench to be relieved off.

The scuffle spilt outside the team bus as security struggles to protect the players as fans bayed for their bloood.

At the end, Masaba who is still winless in the league, failed to conduct his post-match interviews.

The result lifts Busoga to 12th with 23 points, four above the red line as BUL remain 5th with 31.
