The shot-stopper offers insight into how they will beat the competition and retain the trophy.

Tusker goalkeeper Brian Bwire has advised his teammates to keep full focus on their target of winning the Football Kenya Federation Premier League title.

The reigning champions emerged 2-0 winners – courtesy of goals from Eric Otieno and Jackson Macharia - over Sofapaka at Ruaraka Sports Complex on Sunday.

For them to retain the title, the Harambee Stars goalkeeper has advised his teammates on what to do.

"We feel happy for the effort the team made," Bwire said, as quoted by the club’s portal.

"It was [clean sheet] good, and this is how it can help me gain confidence for the remaining matches.

"We need to work as a team and keep full focus on our target, which is to win the league."

On his part, head coach Robert Matano hailed his charges and urged them to work ‘smart and hard’ as they continue to chase league leaders Gor Mahia.

"Three games now and we have collected nine points which is good for us. We will still continue pushing and working hard," Matano told the club’s website.

"The fighting spirit is great because we played a very hard match on Wednesday and [against Sofapaka] you saw the same team with the same spirit."

The former AFC Leopards and Ulinzi Stars tactician also advised them on what they must do in order to end the season on a successful note.

"That means the players have developed mental strength, and this also means they can contain the pressure," he added.

"We have to continue working hard. Hard and smart because the fixtures are congested.

"We have to control the tempo, the fitness level, and be ready for any match now."

The title race promises to be a tight one, as only four points separate K’Ogalo and Tusker.

Nzoia Sugar and KCB, both on 42 points, as well as AFC Leopards, with a tally of 39 points, are also contenders.
