The CAF executive committee has reduced the burden for teams to qualify for the CAF Champions League and Confederations Cup money stage.
Previously, clubs would take part in a two-stage preliminary qualifier, but the African body has halved the route.
The meeting held on Friday in Rabat, Morocco, decided to cancel the second preliminary qualifier meaning that the teams have 180 minutes to qualify for the big money stage.
“The Executive Committee also approved the cancellation of the additional second preliminary of the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup,” CAF announced.
Adding that, “This means that the 16 winning Clubs of the Second Preliminary round will qualify to the Group Stage of both the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League and the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup 2023-2024 season.”
Vipers and KCCA FC will represent Uganda at the CAF Champions League as champions of the league and runners-up.
