Confederation of African Football (CAF) has ordered Football Kenya Federation (FKF) to delicense Premier League champions, Gor Mahia Football Club.

The development means the Kenya champions will not participate in next season’s CAF Champions League.

According to Kenyans.co.ke, a source at FKF confirmed the development warning clubs to meet licensing requirements.

"It is also a reminder of the importance of meeting CAF's club licensing requirements," the source at FKF told Kenyans.co.ke.

The development means that if FKF delicenses Gor Mahia, their nomination to represent Kenya in the 2023 CAF Champions League is also nullified.

Gor Mahia’s woes reportedly started after three former players Burundian striker Jules Ulimwengu, Congolese attacker Yangayay Sando Sando and Malian goalkeeper Adama Keita reported the club to FIFA for failure to pay their salaries.

The club is coached by former Uganda Cranes head coach Johnathan McKinstry who led them to league victory last season.

They are the record champions with 20 Kenyan Premier League titles. The CAF Champions League draws will be held on Friday.
