Lookman, who enjoyed a stellar 2024, could kick the new year off by setting a new Serie A milestone to add to his already glowing campaign.

Lookman nears Serie A record

After 18 Serie A game weeks, Lookman has already scored nine goals despite missing three of Atalanta’s matches and is propelling La Dea towards another historic season.

The reigning Europa League champions are firmly in the race for the Scudetto as they trail current leaders Napoli by only three points with a game in hand.

As Lookman strives for team glory with Atalanta, he could also record a personal high with one more goal this season helping him set a new Serie A record.

With nine goals already this season, one more strike will see the Super Eagles star become the first player to have recorded double digits for goals in each of the last three Serie A seasons.

He scored 13 goals in the 2022/23 season and 11 in the 2023/24 season and needs just one more strike to hit double digits this season as well.

Lookman leaves Osimhen and Lautaro behind

Few players will have the chance to match Lookman’s consistency, but judging from the past two seasons, most people’s money would have been on either Victor Osimhen or Inter’s Lautaro Martinez to be among the players with double-digit goals in three consecutive campaigns.

Yet, with Osimhen currently playing in Turkey with Galatasaray, and Lautaro currently stuck on six goals this season after dodgy recent form, the way seems clear for Lookman to grab the milestone.

Although Osimhen’s form in Turkey has been exceptional, the Super Eagles striker cannot be in contention for the milestone but will be glad his compatriot is the one to hold the record.

Lookman was also one of the most outstanding players in Serie A in 2024, and was directly involved in more goals than any other player in the competition last year, and could start 2025 by grabbing the amazing record.
