The Ghanaian international spoke assertively ahead of second-leg tie against the Nigerian champions.

Yanga SC striker Bernard Morrison is confident his side will eliminate Rivers United on their path to the CAF Confederation Cup semifinal.

Timu ya Wananchi came out on top against Rivers United with a 2-0 victory in the first leg of the quarterfinals last weekend.

Mohamed Nasreddine Nabi's men scored all two goals through striker Fiston Mayele in the second half in a match played at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, Nigeria.

The Congolese attacker scored the first goal in the 74th minute after receiving a through pass from defender Bakari Mwamnyeto who was again on hand to create the second goal for Mayele in the 81st minute.

It is now all to play for at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in the second leg, and Marrison says they are looking forward to a victory on home turf.

"We are already in the semifinals; we just have to finish it on Sunday, so that is it," the Ghanaian told reporters after the team arrived in Tanzania on Monday night.

Morrison missed the first-leg against Rivers after he sustained a thigh injury in the last training session, and a subsequent scan at a hospital in Uyo ruled that he would not be able to feature in the clash.

The 29-year-old has been plagued by injuries and had just resumed training three weeks ago and had been declared fit for the Nigerian assignment only to get another interruption to his progression.

Morrison returned to Yanga in July 2022 from rivals Simba following the expiry of his two-year contract.

At Simba, the striker made over 50 appearances in all competitions, including the African Champions League.

The well-traveled forward was previously with South Africa Premier Soccer League giants Orlando Pirates.

He has also played for Ghanaian Premier League outfit Ashanti Gold before switching to DR Congo side AS Vita Club in the summer of 2015.
