The Nigerian's Rossoneri colleague has named one player capable of becoming one of the greatest.
Spanish forward Alvaro Morata has heaped praise on his young teammate Lamine Yamal, predicting a historic career for the Barcelona prodigy.
What Morata said about Lamine Yamal
Speaking with The Athletic, Morata compared Yamal to legends like Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, lauding his undeniable talent and remarkable maturity.
Yamal's impact on the Spanish national team has already been significant. Despite being only 16 at the start of the tournament, he played a key role in Spain's Euro 2024 triumph, and the La Furia Roja captain believes there is more to come.
“Every 20 or 30 years, one or two emerge like Cristiano and Messi,” said Morata to The Athletic. “For me, he’s got everything it takes to make history. I’m convinced that if he doesn’t become the greatest player in Spain’s history, he’ll definitely be one of them.
“He already made history with us by winning the Euro. He was 16 when the tournament started, and I hope he keeps this up because he’s my team-mate, because he can make me win more things with the national team and because my kids want to meet him, get to know him, go watch the games and all that.”
However, the 32-year-old also expressed concern about the potential pitfalls of early stardom. This concern has motivated Morata to consider a future career as a player agent.
Having experienced the highs and lows of professional football, he wants to guide young players and help them navigate the challenges that come with fame and success.
“I know I can help players not make the mistakes I made. To help them, advise them and guide them in their career,” added the Spain captain.
What next for Morata?
Morata is preparing for a return to his former club, Real Madrid, as Milan seek their second victory in the revamped Champions League format.
The Rossoneri lost their opening matches against Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen before notching maximum points last time out against Club Brugge.
