Desire for a Permanent Spell at Barcelona
Joao Cancelo, currently on loan at Barcelona from Manchester City, has confessed his eagerness to prolong his stay at the Catalan club. The Portuguese defender, keen to follow in the footsteps of his idol Ronaldinho, emphasised his pride in representing Barcelona and hinted at a preference for a long-term commitment.
"I was lucky enough to play for only big teams. I am proud of my career because nobody has ever gifted me anything. I’ve conquered everything with sacrifice," Cancelo said.
"I know nothing yet [about the future], but I’d like to stay here. I grew up watching Ronaldinho’s Barcelona. He’s my idol. I am proud to wear this jersey, and there aren’t other clubs I can join, right?"
Negotiations for the Future
Reports suggest that Manchester City could demand a transfer fee of €30 to permanently sell the Portugal international.
The Catalan giants seem prepared to engage in negotiations to secure the services of the 29-year-old full-back beyond his loan spell; however, they are said to only be willing to pay a fee in the region of €15 million to €20 million.
