Kelechi Iheanacho was the only Nigerian to feature for Leicester City while compatriot Wilfred Ndidi missed the defeat to English fifth tier club Notts County.

Premier League side Leicester City has started its preseason on a losing note after a narrow 2-1 defeat to National League club Notts County.

Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho came on as a second half substitute to captain the Foxes.

He was however the only Nigerian to play for Leicester with compatriot, Wilfred Ndidi, conspicuously missing in action.

With Leicester behind, Iheanacho captained the second team in the second half and came close to earning the Foxes a share of the spoils late on at the Leicester City training ground on Saturday.

The match in brief as County completes comeback win

Despite taking the lead through a lovely goal from Harvey Barnes just after the half hour mark, Leicester opened their preseason with a defeat at home.

Two goals in either half, first the equaliser by Kairo Mitchell to cancel Barnes' opener, and then, the winner by Aden Baldwin, handed the Lower division side a famous win.

The Foxes featured two different starting XIs on the day, the first one had Zambia's Patson Daka and captained by fullback, Ricardo Pereira.

The second team came on just before the start of the second half with Nigeria's Iheanacho as the captain.

The 25-year-old hit the post late on for the Foxes, while substitute goalkeeper, Jakob Stolarczyk, also ensured the Foxes didn't concede even more with some excellent saves.

First, he made two excellent saves to deny County's Kyle Cameron before denying Tobi Adebayo-Rowling again after the hour mark.

Iheanacho's late effort which came off the post was the major highlight for the Super Eagles star in the game.

Up next for the Foxes, they take on OH Leuven at the King Power in a week's time.
