Kanyemba makes history with Zambia
The Copper Princesses' journey to the global stage was not without its challenges, as the team was forced to train on a humble basketball court ahead of their crucial qualifying match against Morocco, with no access to the designated stadium.
But under Kanyemba's steely leadership, the young Zambian squad refused to be deterred, securing a 3-1 aggregate victory over the tournament favourites.
A draw in the second leg was enough to see the Copper Princesses through to the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in the Dominican Republic.
An emotional Kanyemba reflected on the historic achievement during a chat with the Confederation of African Football, CAF.
"It feels really good to have qualified for the biggest platform of women's football at youth level, and it is an honour to be at the helm of a team that has qualified for the World Cup,” she said. “It is an even bigger honour for me to do so as a woman."
The Copper Princesses' success comes a decade after the current Copper Queens squad, Zambia's senior women's national team, made their own World Cup debut in Costa Rica as youngsters.
Now, a new generation of Zambian talent will take centre stage on the global stage, with the Copper Princesses determined to leave their mark.
Kanyemba's trailblazing leadership has paved the way for a new era of Zambian women's football, inspiring young players and coaches alike.
As the Copper Princesses prepare to represent their nation at the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup, they do so with the weight of history on their shoulders, driven to make their country proud on the international stage.
