Casemiro's wife, Anna Mariana, who has been the Brazilian star’s spouse since 2014, has come to the defence of her husband following widespread criticism of the Manchester United midfielder's performance during their 3-0 defeat by Liverpool on Sunday.

The Brazilian star was blamed for two of Liverpool's goals, prompting a wave of negative reactions, including from ex-Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher, who branded Casemiro’s against Manchester United “a sad sight.”

In the wake of Casemiro's much-maligned performance, Anna Mariana Casemiro responded to the criticism by sharing a photo of her husband's impressive trophy collection on Instagram.

The image showcased the numerous accolades Casemiro has amassed over his career, including five Champions League titles, three La Liga trophies, and the Copa del Rey, all won during his time with Real Madrid.

It also included his Copa America victory with Brazil as well as the FA Cup and EFL Cup titles he has won since joining Manchester United in 2022.
Anna Mariana's post will hopefully serve as a reminder of Casemiro's past achievements, sending a clear message to critics that despite recent struggles, his legacy in football remains untarnished.
Ten Hag defends Casemiro half-time substitution
After facing criticism for his decision-making, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag defended his decision to take off Casemiro at halftime, explaining that the change was tactical rather than a reflection of the player's performance.

Speaking after the Liverpool match, Ten Hag said, "It was tactical because we were 2-0 down. You know against Liverpool the midfield will be open, and you need legs. Therefore we brought a guy in, a young player, but he has legs, to keep the midfield closed."
Ten Hag was also quick to dismiss rumours that Casemiro left Old Trafford at halftime in anger after being substituted adding, "That [Rumour] is not true. He was in the dressing room [At full time]. I just met him.”

With United’s recent signing of Manuel Ugarte from PSG and the impending return of Kobbie Mainoo, Casemiro's place in the starting XI is under threat; however, he may get another chance to prove himself when United faces Southampton on September 14 with the Uruguayan still getting up to 100% fitness.
