CRICKET Cricket Cranes’ coach contract extension talks overshadowed by strong interest from various countries
The Uganda Cricket Association find themselves in a spot of bother as they try to engage Cricket Cranes head coach Laurence Mahatlane.

CRICKET How Uganda plans to leverage the Cricket World Cup trophy tour
The ICC has chosen Uganda as one of only three African countries where the ICC World Cup trophy will visit during its global trophy tour.
“Hopefully, some lessons are learnt for all of us (staff and players), but it’s important we get over it quickly and perform; the results that come after this will show the lessons learnt in Namibia,” Mahatlane noted.
Uganda came close on three occasions in the T20i games; in game one, the Cricket Cranes lost by 21 runs, while games two and three saw the Eagles win by 73 runs and eight wickets, respectively.

CRICKET Castle Lite Series: Mahatlane picks positives from tough Cricket Cranes tour in Namibia
Uganda, playing at their third Castle Lite Series, lost four T02I games against the hosts amidst player injuries (Juma Miyaji), travel issues (Riazat Shar) and a family bereavement (Henry Ssenyondo and Simon Ssesazi).
“We put in an effort in the T20i, especially the first three games, as for the ODI’s, we just didn’t pitch,” Mahatlane noted.
“Credit to Namibia, they put out a strong side and showed why they’re an ODI side and why they have been to two World Cups.”
“If we’re going to achieve the same, we need to become more consistent and competitive,” the South African head coach said.
The side will return and take a break before regrouping to start preparations for the T20 World Cup qualifiers set to take place in November in Namibia.
