CECAFA reveals hosts for the U-15 Boys Championship 2023, promising an international platform for young talent in the region.

The Council of East and Central African Football Associations (CECAFA) has officially announced the staging of the CECAFA U-15 Boys Championship 2023 in Uganda, with the tournament set to take place at the FUFA technical Center in Njeru from November 4th to November 18th.

This exciting event promises to provide a vital platform for young talents to showcase their skills on an international stage and prepare for the U-17 AFCON qualifiers in the coming year.

The Executive Director of CECAFA, Auka Gecheo, expressed his enthusiasm for the forthcoming championship.

"We are excited that the youngsters will have yet another platform to engage at an International level, and this will help them prepare ahead of the U-17 AFCON qualifiers to be staged next year," he said.

This tournament will not only offer valuable experience to young players but also foster a spirit of competition and camaraderie among the participating nations.

The last U-15 Boys Championship within the CECAFA Zone was held in Asmara, Eritrea, back in 2019, where Uganda emerged as champions after a thrilling competition.

Yussuf Mossi, the CECAFA Competitions Director, has made it clear that only players aged between 11 and 15 will be eligible to participate in the championship in Uganda.

This age restriction ensures that the focus remains on developing the skills of young footballers within the region.

To ensure a successful event, all member associations within the CECAFA Zone have been called upon to confirm their participation by October 23rd, 2023.

Following the U-15 CECAFA Boys Championship, the footballing spotlight will shift to the CECAFA U-18 Boys Championship, scheduled to be held in Kisumu from November 25th to December 9th.

The 2023 season will conclude with the Pan African Schools CECAFA Zonal qualifiers, taking center stage in Nairobi from December 10th to December 15th.
