With the current Arsenal captain injured, former Gunners captain and midfielder Fabregas has taken this opportunity to advise the manager on how to build his midfield.
The injury forced him off the field and has made him unavailable for the upcoming North London Derby against Tottenham Hotspur.
With Declan Rice suspended and other midfield options like Merino injured, Odegaard's absence further complicates Mikel Arteta’s selection ahead of the game.
The Gunners were already facing significant challenges as they prepared for this crucial match, with Gabriel Jesus, Takehiro Tomiyasu, and Riccardo Calafiori all potentially out with injuries.
While every other injured player seems to have an adequate replacement, Odegaard’s potential replacement is 17-year-old academy product Ethan Nwaneri, who has never started a Premier League game for the Gunners.
However, Fabregas has another solution in mind for Arteta ahead of the important North London Derby.
‘I also would like to see Trossard in midfield’ – Fabregas
Speaking on the Planet Premier League podcast, the former Arsenal captain suggested that the Belgian start in midfield despite appreciating the talent of teenage midfielder Nwaneri.
‘I have no doubts that if Mikel puts him [Nwaneri] in the starting XI or even during the game, it’s because he has seen that he’s good enough to make an impact, he said.
‘Obviously the consequences of Rice and Odegaard being out helps and makes it a little bit faster than he would have liked, but definitely it means that he is on his mind.
‘If he’s part of the squad, it’s because he really believes that he can bring something to the table, he concluded on the potential of seeing Nwaneri playing the North London Derby.
However, he suggested that Arteta opts for experience over youthfulness.
‘I also would like to see Trossard in midfield. I know he likes to come from the wing, but he has the capabilities and qualities to play that role of Odegaard. A little more offensive midfielder, No. 8, No. 10, he continued.
‘I think he’s got the qualities to do that. Probably [Thomas] Partey and Jorginho will be the other two midfielders, if I am not mistaken.
‘But overall, it’s great to see young players making it into the Premier League.’
