Rangers International have been crowned NPFL champions after ending the 2023/24 season on a high against Gombe United.

Rangers International have been crowned champions of the Nigerian Professional Football League, NPFL, in stunning fashion after a thrilling 2-1 victory over Gombe United on the final day of the season.

The Flying Antelopes wrapped up the title in style with a hard-fought away win against relegated Gombe United in Jos on Sunday, with young stars Kazeem Ogunleye and Godwin Obaje the heroes of the day.

Ogunleye and Obaje struck early in the first half to put Rangers in control before Gombe netted a consolation in a nervy finish.

The victory comes after Rangers secured the title the previous matchday at their iconic Cathedral stadium in Enugu, meaning this final day victory was merely the icing on the cake for the jubilant players and supporters.

Rangers also return to the continent where they will be one of two clubs expected to represent Nigeria in the prestigious CAF Champions League, CAFCL.

It's Rangers' first league crown in eight years and their eighth NPFL title overall, cementing their status as one of the most successful clubs in Nigerian football history, only behind bitter rivals Enyimba.
