Busoga United player Charles Sunday Mulanda could have dug himself a bottomless pit after cynically headbutting referee Gerald Tumusiime in their game against Gadaffi FC on Tuesday.

Mulanda, who was Busoga's skipper on the day, attacked the official in retaliation for a red card as Busoga won 1-0 against their regional neighbours on Tuesday in Jinja.

The incident didn't go unnoticed and uncharged as FUFA has summoned him to respond based on his actions.

"The FUFA Disciplinary Panel (FDP) has summoned Busoga United FC Player Charles Sunday Mulanda to submit a written statement to clarify, contend, or dispute his actions stated in the referee’s report of the match between Gaddafi FC and Busoga United FC played on Tuesday 24th October 2023 at Gaddafi Arena-Jinja."

"Mulanda has to submit the statement by Thursday 26th October 2023 before 5 pm local time," the FUFA statement adds.

In other disciplinary summons by FUFA, Kataka FC head coach Godfrey Awachango FUFA has been charged after leading his team off the pitch against rivals Kyetume FC.

"The FUFA Disciplinary Panel (FDP) has summoned Kataka FC and their Head coach, Godfrey Awachango Toldo, to submit a written statement to clarify, contend, or dispute their actions as stated in the referee’s report of the match (failing to continue with play) between Kyetume Fc and Kataka FC played on October 22 2023."

Meanwhile, Mbarara City FC assistant coach Ayub Balyejusa has been fined after being found guilty of threateningly attacking the match assessor at the end of their match with NEC FC on September 15.

"The FDP sanctioned Balyejusa in application of Article 13(1) and 13(3) of the FUFA Ethics and Disciplinary Code."

On the other hand, Gaddafi FC Chairman Edrine Ochieng has been fined two million shillings for attacking match officials in their game against Kitara FC on September 29.

"Ochieng was found guilty of attacking the match officials while in the dressing room. He punched, kicked and abused the referee’s assessor. The actions brought the game into disrepute."

"The FDP sanctioned Ochieng in the application of Article 13(1) and 13(3) of the FUFA Ethics and Disciplinary Code," FUFA clarified in a statement.

The FUFA disciplinary hand comes at a time when misconduct and indiscipline are on the rise despite it being in the early stages of the season.
