Several clubs have paid homage to former English footballer and manager Terry Venables who passed away at age 80.
Chelsea, Barcelona, and other clubs touched by the magic of iconic former English footballer and manager Terry Venables have paid tribute to the darling figure, who sadly passed away on Saturday, aged 80.
Journeyman Venables passes on
Venables served Chelsea, Tottenham, Queens Park Rangers, and Crystal Palace as a player in the 60s and 70s before famously managing Barcelona, the England national team, and Leeds, among others, during a 27-year managerial career.
The English manager helped the Three Lions to the semifinals of the 1996 Euros on home soil and also helped Barcelona win their first LaLiga title in 11 years during the 1984/85 season.
The clubs and organisations that have hosted Venables paid their respects to the iconic coach, leaving a string of social media posts in his honour, while Tottenham also had a moment of silence for him before their match against Aston Villa.
Clubs pay respects to Venables
Chelsea posted on social media platform X, saying, “Everyone at Chelsea Football Club is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former Blue Terry Venables, aged 80.
“The thoughts and condolences of everyone at the club are with his family and friends at this difficult time. Rest in peace, Terry.”
Barcelona also released a statement saying, “FC Barcelona deeply regrets the passing of Terry Venables, who managed Barça from 1984 to 1987. Our condolences to his loved ones. Rest in peace.”
Venables is highly regarded at most clubs where he worked after enjoying many minor and major successes with a host of clubs in the Premier League and LaLiga.
