Reece James has been sent for a knee scan days before Chelsea is scheduled to go on a preseason tour of the US, raising concerns about an injury.
The Chelsea defender struggled with injury last season which kept him out of the majority of their games.
The Blues finished the 2022/2023 season in 12th position which was one of their worst campaigns as a club.

The London clubs are interested in the midfielder and are expected to table their bids.
New manager Mauricio Pochettino was brought in to change the team's fortune and will play their first preseason game in a few days' time.
The Chelsea team will likely be without their star player Recce James after he was sent for a knee scan by the club doctors.
Reece James injury issues
The Evening Standard, as cited by Daily Mail, said that Chelsea is anticipating good news on the scan but was eager to receive a medical opinion on the status of the 23-year-old after he complained of pain.
Given James' troubles with injury last season, the news will undoubtedly worry many Blue supporters.
During a turbulent period that saw Thomas Tuchel replaced by Graham Potter, the England star started eight of the team's first ten Premier League games.
James was forced to the sidelines in October due to a knee injury, missing out on a spot in Gareth Southgate's England World Cup team.
The full-back made a comeback in February, but his time with the team was brief as additional injuries limited him to just 14 Premier League starts for the entire season.
Chelsea continues summer clear-out
Romelu Lukaku, Hakim Ziyech, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang did not accompany the team on the preseason tour as Chelsea's summer clear-out continues.
Aubameyang is reportedly interested in moving to Marseille in Ligue 1, while Lukaku is caught in a Serie A bidding war between Juventus and Inter Milan over his services for the upcoming year.
Callum Hudson-Odoi, a graduate of the Blues Academy, will not be joining the tour either. The 22-year-old is also set to leave Stamford Bridge this summer.
The first game of the Blues' four summer friendlies will take place on Wednesday in North Carolina against Wrexham.
