Frank Lampard has revealed that returning to Chelsea was an "easy decision" for him, after he was appointed the caretaker manager of the club.

"It was an easy decision to come back to this club. I'm excited to be here, and I'm looking forward to the challenge," Lampard said.
"It won't be my decision, so again I don't want to jump forward to that. I have my eyes wide open. The important thing for me is to park that and focus on the job in hand."
"This is my club. [I have] a lot of emotional feelings towards the club. I want to do the best possible role I can and after that, we will see what happens," he added.
Lampard's first game as Chelsea's caretaker manager will be away to Wolverhampton in the Premier League on Saturday, followed by a Champions League quarter-final first leg against Real Madrid on Wednesday.
The club has said that Lampard will take charge while they conduct an "exhaustive process" to find a permanent boss.
Lampard was also present at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday for Chelsea's 0-0 draw with Liverpool when Bruno Saltor was in charge.
The 44-year-old former midfielder has been out of a job since he was dismissed by Everton in January 2023, his immediate role after he was sacked from Stamford bridge in January 2021.
He guided Everton to safety from relegation last season but left Goodison Park eight days shy of his one-year anniversary in the role after nine defeats in 12 Premier League games this campaign.
During his previous spell as Chelsea's manager, Lampard took over while the club was under a transfer embargo. However, he guided them to a fourth-place finish and the FA Cup final in his first season in charge.
He could not replicate the early promise, despite spending £200m on seven major signings, including current players Ben Chilwell and Kai Havertz.
He was eventually sacked by previous owner Roman Abramovich with the club ninth in the Premier League after winning only two of their previous eight games.
He was replaced by Thomas Tuchel, who led Chelsea to victory in the Champions League final four months later.
Tuchel would also leave Stamford Bridge in September 2022, and was replaced by Graham Potter, whose tenure only lasted seven months before his dismissal last week.
