The Blues have revealed that the key defender will unfortunately miss the London derby tomorrow and the world cup in Qatar.
Chelsea will be without talented left-back Ben Chilwell for the game against the Gunners after the defender injured his hamstring.
According to a statement from the club on Saturday afternoon, a scan showed that the 28-year-old has sustained an unfortunate injury which will keep him out of action until after the world cup.
"Ben has undergone a scan on his hamstring," the club stated in a statement on its website. "Results show that Ben has suffered a significant injury and the defender is unfortunately expected to miss the World Cup.
The London side added that the former Leicester City star will 'begin a rehabilitation programme with the club’s medical department.'
Chilwell suffers World Cup blow
When the World Cup kicks off in Qatar on November 20, England will be without left-back, Chilwell.
There were concerns when the England international limped off in midweek during Chelsea's final group game in the Champions League.
The Blues defeated Croatian side, Dinamo Zagreb 2-1 thanks to Denis Zakaria's wonderful winner.
However, the victory and ticket to the knockout stage came at a price after the former Leicester man was unable to finish the game and was helped off the pitch by the Chelsea medical team.
"It's a blow for us after an otherwise positive game, to see him pull up like that is not a great sight," manager, Graham Potter stated moments after the game.
"Fingers crossed when we get it scanned it isn't as bad, it can be not as severe, but clearly we are disappointed."
Well, Potters' worst fears have become a reality as Chelsea has now stated that the scan confirmed that Chilwell will miss the world cup due to an 'unfortunate hamstring'.
Chelsea will host Arsenal in a crucial Premier League encounter at Stamford Bridge but will face the Gunners without the talented Chilwell.
