Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is fit and available for selection for Chelsea against Arsenal in the Premier League.

Players have a knack for performing well when they meet their former teams especially when they parted ways bitterly.

It is just some kind of motivation which Chelsea could use on Tuesday night by throwing in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang when they cross London to face Arsenal in the Premier League.

The striker has found playing time hard at Chelsea featuring in only 20 of Chelsea’s 44 matches this season in all competitions.

However, the club teased their London rivals with a suggestion that Frank Lampard could go ahead to field him as an extra-motivation against his former side.

Aubameyang left the Emirates at the beginning of 2022 after a long misunderstanding with coach Mikel Arteta as he crossed over to Barcelona.

“Could Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang start at Arsenal?” the club posted on their website as they tipped that “Our caretaker manager admits Aubameyang’s ‘certain motivation’ could see him involved in some form at the home of the Gunners tomorrow.”

Lampard went on to admit that the circumstances under which he took over the team have not allowed him time to assess Aubameyang but has noted the striker needs to work more.

“With Aubameyang,” Lampard explained, “in a short period, it has been hard for me to gauge that.

“When you see him come on against Brentford you see the different feeling in the team. One thing for sure is that he is a high-level player but he is clearly also in a situation where he is not at his freshest or sharpest,” he added.

Whatever the situation, Lampard will need his boys at their best and deny the Gunners a chance to reclaim the league summit if they’re to end the rot that has seen the Blues go nine games without a win.

Chelsea is trapped in 12th with 39 points.
