Chelsea have finally completed the signing of Ecuadorian star Moises Caicedo, and they announced his incorporation with an Afrobeats track.

Chelsea have announced the signing of Moises Caicedo, and like Arsenal did with Declan Rice, the Blues confirmed the transfer using a Nigerian Afrobeats song.

Chelsea confirm Caicedo

The West London club have been hot on the tails of the Ecuadorian all summer and had multiple bids rejected before eventually reaching an agreement with Brighton.

The two-time Champions League winner had Caicedo as their prime summer transfer target; however, they risked losing him to Liverpool, who beat them to an agreement with the Seagulls.

But the former Independientes del Valle midfielder insisted he had an agreement with Chelsea, turning down the Reds' approach.

The Todd Boehly consortium-owned team returned to the negotiation table and eventually reached an agreement. Medicals were completed earlier today, and Caicedo, after a protracted transfer saga, is now officially a Chelsea player signed to an eight-year deal with an option for an additional year, Pulse Sports can confirm.

Chelsea announce Caicedo with Afrobeats 'Finesse'

Weeks ago, Nigerian football Twitter went wild after Arsenal made the informed decision to use the eponymous Afrobeats track 'Declan Rice' to unveil the signing of the England international defensive midfielder.

It was seen as another step in the growth of the current 'Afrobeats to the World' rave, which has seen modern Nigerian contemporary music cross borders like never before and become a staple in the global music space.

A similar online celebration has been ongoing since Chelsea unveiled Caicedo to the Afrobeats track 'Finesse' by Nigerian singer, songwriter, and producer Pheelz featuring Bnxn (formerly known as BUJU).

Finesse was released in 2022 to a huge reception, as it enjoyed popularity on Tiktok and Instagram Reels trends before its release date.

The track was one of the biggest songs of the past year and has been nominated for a number of awards. It currently has over 100 million streams on Spotify.

'If I broke na my business'

Also, Nigerian Chelsea fans who are well aware of the lyrics of the song have taken the line from the song, “If I broke na my business,” as the club's way of acknowledging its affluence and lavish spending in the transfer window.

There are many who also understand the creative decision by the literal meaning of the title of the song ‘Finesse’ as how Chelsea have moved with guile in recent weeks in the transfer window.
