That match will see new manager Enzo Maresca who joined from newly promoted Leicester City following the departure of Mauricio Pochettino make his competitive debut.
Ahead of the explosive clash, Chelsea took to social media to unveil a new partnership with Fever, who become the club’s latest principal partner.
According to the unveiling video which included the injury-prone duo of Reece James and Christopher Nkunku, Fever will appear on the club’s sleeves for the 2024/2025 season.
“By our Side! Introducing @Fever_UK as Chelsea FC principal partner for the 24/25 season,” the Blues said in a statement on their official account.
The post got fans talking in the comments, "Fever? Wahala oo," one stated. "We need dem tears," another stated.
Chelsea will be looking to kick start the new season on a positive note under Maresca despite a poor pre-season under the new manager.
In six matches, the Blues managed just a win, the 3-0 thrashing of America, with three defeats, two of which they conceded four times each.
However, they will be buoyed by their 1-1 draw against Italian champions Inter Milan the last time they played at the Bridge as they look to snap Man City’s two-game winning streak against them.
Meanwhile, Nigerian legend John Mikel Obi is not optimistic about his former club Chelsea heading into the new Premier League season.
Mikel Obi has expressed concerns about the Blues under new manager Maresca, with the former Super Eagles skipper foreseeing an imminent struggle this season.
The former Chelsea midfield anchor is particularly concerned about Maresca’s belief that he is in London to build for the long term.
Obi who has also advised the club to go all in for compatriot Victor Osimhen believes Enzo is here to win and will not get the time he thinks he needs to build for the future.
