With a new army of wingers coming in the January window, Chelsea are looking to offload Moroccan forward Hakim Ziyech
Chelsea are now willing to listen to offers for their Moroccan winger Hakim Ziyech, according to reports.
Ziyech struggling to make an impact in Chelsea
The former Ajax winger joined Chelsea for more than €40 million in 2020, but has failed to recreate the same performances that made him one of the hottest properties in football when he first arrived in London.
Ziyech has been deemed to be below the required standard at Chelsea, and with a recent change in management doing more harm than good to his chances of playing, it might be time for him to call it quits on his adventure with the Blues.
Chelsea have raided the transfer market for wingers and have brought in Ukrainian winger Mykhailo Mudryk, Nigeria-eligible Dutch winger Noni Madueke, and Portuguese forward Joao Felix in the January window, which has led to a surplus of forward options.
In addition to their recent additions, Chelsea also have Christian Pulisic, Raheem Sterling, and Kai Havertz, who can all play in Ziyech’s position.
Ziyech could fetch Chelsea good money after his World Cup performance
Chelsea are now willing to listen to offers for Ziyech with the belief that they might not get as much financial gain from a transfer at a later window. They would also like to recoup some of the money that they have spent on their winter acquisitions, and few players will be as profitable to them right now as Ziyech.
Ziyech has improved his marketability with a series of good performances at the World Cup, and Chelsea will know that they can still get a sizeable sum since multiple teams are willing to come for him after the performances in Qatar.
Ziyech was one of Morocco’s best players as the Atlas Lions reached an unprecedented semifinal before losing to France, and on the back of that, he has become a target for multiple clubs within and outside England.
No official bids have been made yet, but it seems like a matter of time before Ziyech leaves Chelsea since it is a move that would benefit both the club and the player.
