Falcons reunited in Mexico
The Mexican Liga MX Femenil is now host to two Nigerian forward who play for rival clubs as Uchenna Kanu of Tigres has a familiar foe in Ihezuo newly of Rayadas.
Both players have history together having been involved for Nigeria at youth level at around the same time as they’re of the same age.
Ihezuo’s Nigeria career started at the under-17 level when she scored six goals at the 2012 FIFA World Cup in Azerbaijan.
She progressed to the under-20 level where she alongside Uchenna Kanu were part of the team that finished second at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Canada.
Both women have since formed successful careers as lethal finishers which has led them to the Mexican top flight.
Ihezuo’s career so far
Before joining Rayadas, Ihezuo sported the colours of Meizhou Hakka in China having previously played for Henan Jianye in the same country.
She started her club career with Delta Queens in Nigeria after which she joined BIIK Kazygurt in Azerbaijan where she played from 2016 to 2018.
Ihezuo is expected to provide a boost for Rayadas this season and will be registered in place of Colombian defender Echeverri who is out injured with plantar fasciitis.
This is relevant because the Liga MX Femenil has a quota of five foreign-born players for each of the teams in the league.
