Brian Omondi Mzee has left Nairobi City Stars for a Taiwanese club embracing an exciting new chapter in his football career.

Nairobi City Stars has officially announced the departure of their midfield dynamo, Brian Omondi Mzee, who is set to continue his football career in Taiwan with Leopard Cat FC.

Mzee's move comes halfway through his one-season contract, following his pre-2023-24 FKF Premier League season transfer from Kibera Black Stars, a second-tier Kenyan football team.

The talented midfielder, who made a significant impact at City Stars since his arrival, has been granted the opportunity to explore his career overseas, a decision that the club has wholeheartedly supported.

Despite being a key player in the team's current campaign, City Stars recognizes the rarity and value of international offers, leading to their approval of Mzee's transfer.

Team coordinator Samson Otieno expressed his gratitude and best wishes for Mzee's future, highlighting the player's contributions and dedication to the team.

"Mzee arrived and fitted in very well to our setup in the current season. Though he was firmly in the plans for the rest of the season, the club is fully aware that offers from outside are always rare, hence the nod by the club to let him leave,” Otieno said.

“We thank him for his on-field returns as a midfielder, and his dedication to the team. We wish him the very best in his new endeavor.”

During his tenure with Nairobi City Stars, Mzee appeared in 16 out of 20 games, accumulating 956 minutes of playtime.

His performance was not only pivotal in midfield but also earned him accolades, including being named the most valuable player in his first full game against Bidco United and repeating the feat against AFC Leopards.

His contributions have been instrumental in City Stars' performance this season, showcasing his skill and dedication on the pitch.

Reflecting on his time with Nairobi City Stars, Mzee expressed his heartfelt gratitude towards the club for fulfilling his dream of playing in the Kenyan Premier League.

"From the bottom of my heart, I wish to thank this great club for making my dream of featuring in the Kenyan Premier League come true. It was always my wish, and that of any local player, to feature in Kenya’s topmost league,” Mzee said.

The midfielder praised the club's management, technical bench, and his teammates for their support and the opportunities given to him, which significantly contributed to his growth as a player and his subsequent move.

Mzee's new team Leopard Cat FC in Taiwan is also home to Kenyan defender Nicodemus "Mariga" Onyango indicating a growing Kenyan presence in the Asian football scene.
