Simba wa Nairobi were unlucky after they were twice denied by the offside flag.
Bidco United and Nairobi City Stars settled for a 0-0 draw during a Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) match on Tuesday at the Kasarani Annex.
City Stars are now winless in the six games, a run which has seen them collect only two points as they remained in the relegation zone.
Bidco would count themselves lucky for not conceding as their rivals failed to convert a number of their key chances.
Meanwhile, City Stars almost broke the deadlock in the sixth minute, but Samuel Kapen – after a fine pass from Kevin Etemesi - could not beat Bidco’s goalkeeper Sydney Oduor.
Ezekiel Okare needed medical attention in the 15th minute when he was dangerously brought down. The Thika-based outfit, however, was unable to make maximum use of the set piece won at a good goalscoring position.
City Stars came close to breaking the deadlock, but their forward surge was brought to an abrupt end when Ezekiel Odera, after he was spotted by Kapen, was flagged down for offside in the 34th minute.
Two minutes later, the away side almost got an opener again, but Andrew Kisilu could not find the back of the net after Kapen’s pinpoint pass.
An attacking combination between Odera and Etemesi in the 50th minute did not result in any positive outcome for City Stars, as goalkeeper Oduor dealt with the challenge equally by making a rather comfortable save.
Simba wa Nairobi made a change in the 57th minute as Kennedy Onyango went out and Ronny Kola filled his position. More substitutions were made in the 74th minute with Odera and Kisilu – who failed to score two minutes earlier – were withdrawn as experienced Anthony 'Muki' Kimani and Herrit Mungai came on.
Bidco made their changes in the 77th minute, with David Orem and Erick Gichimu replacing Okare and Benson Iregi.
Kimani’s introduction was almost felt instantly after he played Kapen through on goal, but the latter’s effort was blocked for a fruitless corner.
More substitutions for City Stars were effected in the 83rd minute, with Newton Ochieng coming off and Mohamed Omar introduced.
The offside flag once again denied City Stars a goal-scoring chance in the 87th minute. Omar – after a solo run – was flagged down as the visitors threatened to break the deadlock.
After four additional minutes, neither of the sides could get a goal, and, therefore, settled for a point each.
