Clifton Miheso scored the lone goal as AFC Leopards returned to winning ways in the league to silence Bandari who had slim chances of fighting for the title.
AFC Leopards maintained their winning streak at a packed Dandora Stadium as they upset Bandari 1-0 in an FKF Premier League encounter on Sunday afternoon.
Ingwe, who thrashed FC Compel 3-1 at the same venue seven days ago, looked on top throughout and got the much-deserved victory thanks to a sole first half goal by Clifton Miheso.
AFC Leopards had a big opportunity to open the scoring in the 15th minute when Victor Otieno isolated Bandari right-back Meja Atariza, but the defender frantically cleared the ball to safety just in time.
Leopards continued to pile on the pressure, and in the 28th minute, could have taken the lead but Kennedy Owino missed on a good chance to score his second goal in Ingwe colours, heading it wide
Bandari’s strategy was counter-attack based, with the plan being to look for James Kinyanjui out wide who would then create one-on-one situations or cross dangerous balls in, and one of these moves resulted in Umar Kasumba mistiming an attempted overhead kick from his cross in the 32nd minute.
Leopards would eventually take the lead moments later. Otieno whipped in a dangerous cross from the left wing which was flicked back across goal by Jaffari Owiti for Miheso, who put the ball into the back of the net on his right foot to send the Ingwe faithful into delirium.
That goal would be enough to see the hosts take the lead heading into the break.
After the break, Ingwe continued staying on top of the visitors, and should have doubled the lead when Kayci Odhiambo found himself with a lot of space on the edge of the box but hit it straight at keeper Byrne Omondi.
However, the Dockers started finding their grove just before the half hour mark and cushioned a few opportunities for themselves. Atariza nearly equalised for them, but his attempt from a quickly-taken short corner routine sailed just wide of the post.
The game then became a damp squib, with neither side creating inroads in the other’s half from the 70th minute onwards
However, substitute Victor Omune missed perhaps the clearest of opportunities to extend Ingwe’s lead in the 88th minute after he found himself one-on-one with Omondi, but the ball ended up safely into the Harambee Stars goalkeeper’s gloves.
The result now means AFC Leopards have climbed to sixth place on 41 points, while Bandari are fifth on 45.
