Chelsea’s star is the only player to have scored four goals in the first half of a Premier League game, but there are other players that have scored four goals in one half. Check full list in article.

Palmer completed his four-goal haul in 19 minutes and 57 seconds, scoring in the 21st, 28th, 31st, and 41st minutes against Brighton & Hove Albion at Stamford Bridge to produce one of the greatest Premier League goal-scoring performances in history.

However, this is not the fastest since records began in 2006-07, as retired England striker Jermain Defoe scored four goals in 17 minutes and 56 seconds when Tottenham beat Wigan Athletic 9-1 in November 2009.

Generally, players have scored four or more goals in a Premier League match 41 times in history, but only a few have done it in one half.

While Palmer might have made history by being the only player to achieve a four-goal haul in one half, he still has another record to chase in this category, as Manchester City’s former forward Sergio Aguero is the only one to have done this twice.

The players who have managed to net four goals in a Premier League half form a small, elite group, and here is a full list of them.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer (Manchester United)

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

The Norwegian striker's four-goal haul against Nottingham Forest in 1998-99 was part of a huge 8-1 victory.

His performance in the latter stages of the second half turned the victory into a huge one for the Red Devils, who were already 4-1 up before he scored his first goal of the game in the 80th minute.

Solskjaer scored in the 80th, 88th, 91st, and 94th minutes, but sadly records were not officially taken at the time, so it is not officially recognised as the fastest four-goal haul in Premier League history.

Defoe holds the record for the fastest four-goal haul in a Premier League half. In a 9-1 victory over Wigan Athletic in 2009-10, he scored his four goals within just 17 minutes and 56 seconds, a feat that remains unmatched.

The Argentine striker has achieved this remarkable feat on two separate occasions. In a 6-1 win over Newcastle United in 2015-16, he scored five goals, with four of those four goals coming in a 13-minute second half spell.

The Argentine repeated this performance in the 2017-18 season, netting four times in the second half against Leicester City in a 5-1 win at the Etihad Stadium.

The latest entrant into this exclusive list, Palmer, produced a solid performance in the first half against Brighton & Hove Albion in 2024-25, becoming the first player to score four goals in the first half of a Premier League game.

His first was a cool finish from a Nicolas Jackson assist, while his second came from the spot, which took him into the exclusive two-man list of players to have played 10 or more spot kicks and scored all. The Englishman added his third from a free kick and another fine finish into the near-post to complete the haul.
