German champions Bayer Leverkusen are happy to have their Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface back.

German champions Bayer Leverkusen have welcomed back their Super Eagles striker, Victor Boniface after he missed the UEFA Champions League match against Brest due to injuries sustained in a car accident.

The 23-year-old was involved in a serious crash on Sunday, just hours after he played a pivotal role in Leverkusen's 2-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt, where he scored the winning goal.

Following the accident, Boniface was hospitalised for precautionary measures but thankfully only suffered minor injuries, including cuts on his hand.

The club decided to exclude him from the Champions League squad to ensure his well-being during recovery and for precautionary reasons.

Despite being overlooked for the CAF Player of the Year award recently, Boniface has been in excellent form this season, netting five goals and providing one assist in just seven Bundesliga matches.

He is expected to play a significant role in Leverkusen's next game against Bremen as they aim to maintain their strong performance in both domestic and European competitions.

Boniface had been tipped as one of the favourites following an impressive debut season with Bayer Leverkusen but was bizarrely overlooked despite his remarkable performances during the 2023/24 season.

The snub by CAF left fans livid and feeling that Boniface was unfairly overlooked, with many taking to social media to voice their frustration.
