The English captain is one of the centre-forwards linked with the Red Devils.

Retired English footballer Danny Murphy expects Harry Kane to join Manchester United if Tottenham Hotspur will not qualify for the Champions League.

With seven games left, Spurs are fifth place, while Manchester United and Newcastle United – in third and fourth places, respectively - have games in hand over the North London side.

Kane - barring four loan spells over a decade ago – has spent the entire of his career at Tottenham and went on to become the club’s all-time top scorer. He is also on course to break Alan Shearer’s all-time Premier League record.

Despite that achievement, he has yet to win a single trophy with the North London club.

"I got asked about Harry Kane’s future a couple of weeks ago, and at that point I thought he would stay at Tottenham. That’s what I thought," Murphy told the FIVE YouTube channel.

"But now that Antonio Conte has gone, the team are falling off, the fans aren’t happy, the squad looks unhappy, and they probably won’t be in the Champions League next season.

"I don’t think they will be in the Champions League anyway. I think that will be enough for Harry Kane. If Tottenham don’t get the Champions League, I think he will go to Manchester United."

United are expected to sign a new striker in the summer, and Kane has been heavily linked with the Red Devils.

Under Erik ten Hag, United have been promising and have already bagged the Carabao Cup while chasing two more titles.

After Cristiano Ronaldo left, United brought in Burnley’s Wout Weghorst on a loan deal, and the Dutchman has featured upfront for the Red Devils for much of the half of the season.

Apart from Harry Kane, United have also been linked with Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen, who is with Napoli.
