Bendeka has explained why he turned down other clubs to join Gor Mahia.

Gor Mahia’s new striker Gedeon Bendeka has explained the motivation behind his decision to quit Rwanda’s Entecelles FC to join the record FKFPL champions.

With respect to their return to the CAF Champions League, Gor are begun the process of strengthening their squad in time for the competition.

K’Ogalo will return to the elite continental inter-club tournament next season by virtue of being the Kenyan league winners.

Bendeka put pen to paper on a two-year deal earlier this week, and will be expected to provide Benson Omala with genuine competition for the pointman position.

The Congolease striker managed to score 13 goals in 22 goals in the past campaign, finishing third in the scorer’s sheet behind Victor Mbaoma and Ani Elijah.

The speedy forward has now explained the motivation behind joining the club.

“I want to continue my development and I feel Gor Mahia is the right step for me to do it at this stage of my career,” Bendeka told the club’s media channels upon his unveiling.

“Gor Mahia is a club with ambition and I want to continue forward. I do not want to make a step backwards. I am very happy to be here. The club is well organised and they are disciplined, and everything is good.”

Bendeka has assured fans that he will prove value for money by replicating some of the club’s great strikers of the past by finding the back of the net as regularly as he can.

“I will score many goals. I scored many goals for my previous clubs and I am hopeful I will continue to do so over here.”

Gor Mahia are in a race against time to be ready for the CAF Champions League given players participating in the preliminary round of the competition will have to be registered from July 1-20.

The Champions League and Confederation Cup will kick off with a preliminary round of matches slated between August 16 and 18 with group matches scheduled between October and December before the knockout phase and final take center stage from March to May 2025.
