Serhou Guirassy continued his impressive performance for Borussia Dortmund this season in the Champions League with another matching display against Sporting Lisbon.

Serhou Guirassy delivered a stellar performance for Borussia Dortmund in their Champions League play-off against Sporting Lisbon, contributing a goal and an assist in a 3-0 victory. 

His latest contributions against the Portuguese champions have seen his name engraved in Dortmund's history books.

Guirassy, the 28-year-old Guinean forward, opened the scoring at the hour mark with a header from a Julian Brandt cross. Eight minutes later, he turned provider, assisting Pascal Gross, for his first for the club, to double Dortmund's lead. 

German-born Nigerian forward Karim Adeyemi sealed the victory and a handy leading heading into the second leg next week with a third goal.

Guirassy's goal was his 10th in the Champions League this season, taking his tally to 13 goal contributions in the competition.

With 10 goals and 3 assists, Guirassy now holds the record for the most goal involvements (13) by a Dortmund player in a single Champions League campaign, a feat Barcelona star Robert Lewandowski could not achieve during his time at the club.

He also equals the record for most European Cup/Champions League goals scored in a single season by a Dortmund player, sharing it with Erling Haaland (10 in 2020-21).

Meanwhile, Guirassy's Champions League form places him at the top of the scorer's chart, ahead of the Barcelona duo of Lewandowski and Raphinha.

Following this impressive success, Guirassy was also named man of the match against Sporting, with the Champions League hailing the African star on their official account on social media. 

His Dortmund coach, Niko Kovac, was not left out as he also praised Guirassy's impact, noting his ability to create space for teammates.
