Flying Eagles touch down in Abidjan ahead of 2 friendly games
The Flying Eagles are now in Abidjan to face the Elephants of Ivory Coast in 2 friendly games.
The journey begins on Wednesday, April 30, when Nigeria face off against Egypt’s Young Pharaohs at 5 pm CIV time (6 pm Nigeria time).
It’s a blockbuster opener for the Flying Eagles, who are riding high after defending their WAFU B U20 Championship title in Lomé, Togo, in October 2024 to secure their spot in the finals.

Three days later, on Saturday, May 3, they’ll lock horns with Morocco’s Young Atlas Lions at 8 pm local time (9 pm Nigeria time), promising a late-night thriller at the same venue.
The group stage wraps up on Tuesday, May 6, with a clash against South Africa at 5 pm CIV time (6 pm Nigeria time), also in Korhogo.
For Nigeria, who reached the quarter-finals of the 2023 FIFA U20 World Cup in Argentina, every match is a stepping stone toward a bigger prize: a semi-final berth in Côte d’Ivoire, which would punch their ticket to the 2025 FIFA U20 World Cup in Chile, running from September 27 to October 19.
Currently, the Flying Eagles are in the thick of preparations, encamped in Katsina thanks to the support of the state government.
