Ronaldo, who was recently in Iran for an Asian Champions League fixture, could find himself in serious trouble with the law.
According to reports, the Portuguese superstar could be punished with 100 lashes in Iran for an affectionate gesture with a woman who had gifted him a painting.
During the trip to face Persepolis in September, a match they won 0-2, Cristiano met a renowned Iranian artist named Fatemeh Hamami.

The woman, who has 85% body paralysis, gifted the five-time Ballon d’Or winner two drawings painted with her feet.
And to show his gratitude, Ronaldo hugged her and kissed her forehead.

The Portugal captain also gifted an Al-Nassr jersey with his name and iconic number printed on the shirt.
However, even though his behavior is completely normal in the West, the laws in Iran vastly differ according to the Iranian penal code.
The strict legislation of the Middle Eastern country prohibits Ronaldo’s act which would be perceived as adultery as per Il Corriere dello Sport.

Since Ronaldo and Fatemeh are not married to each other, Iranian law does not allow these types of affectionate gestures and could bring those responsible for them to court.
This code further reveals that the Koran imposes the punishment of 100 lashes, although the penalty could be condoned if the judge does not consider the acts punishable or if the protagonists repent.
