The forward has revealed what the future holds for him in international football.
Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo has declared he will continue playing at the international level as long as he believes he contributes positively to the team and maintains his starting role.
The 39-year-old has represented the national team 212 times in his two-decade-long international career, scoring a record 130 goals in international football.
Despite starting in all five matches and playing every minute in four of those games, including the extra-time periods in the knockout matches against Slovenia and France, Ronaldo failed to score in Euro 2024, his first major international tournament without a goal.

What Ronaldo said about Portugal future
“In my mind, I’ll always be a starter,” Ronaldo said when asked about his role in the team.
“Until the end of my career, I’ll always think that I’ll be a starter. I’ll always respect the decisions, not only of the coach, but at the clubs I’ve played for I’ve always respected them.
“I continue to be an asset to the national team and I will be the first to admit it. If that does not happen, if I am not an asset I will be the first to leave.

“But if I leave, I will go with a clear conscience, as always, because I know who I am, what I can do, what I do and what I will continue to do.”
