Former Vipers forward Cromwell Rwothomio has joined Uganda Premier League debutants NEC FC.
Rwothomio agreed terms with the Bugolobi-based side in a last-minute deal for a short-term contract for the 2023/24 season, leaving his options open shortly.
The versatile forward reportedly agreed to join on a one-year deal with an option to negotiate with suitors in the January transfer window.
He joined NEC shortly after his release from Vipers Sports Club by the Federation of Uganda Football Association, who approved him registering with any club of his choice for the 2023/24 season, rendering his contract with Vipers null and void.
While several transfer markets in the region and abroad have since closed, the Uganda football market is in its closing stages, with about 48 hours to wind up.
Rwothomio joined Vipers SC in August 2022 after a successful period at Uganda Revenue Authority Football Club (URA FC), where he scored 14 goals and helped the team finish third in the league with 55 points.
He scored three goals for Vipers SC during their successful season.
NEC made their league debut against Mbarara City on Friday, September 15, with a precious 1-0 away victory. In the next fixture, NEC will host Busoga United at the MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo.
