Vipers forward Cromwell Rwothomio has run to the Federation of Uganda Football Association players' status committee seeking a release letter from the Ugandan champions.
The Vipers forward was among the players the club released in the transfer window for allegedly being "surplus" to requirements.
Following the alleged 'release', Rwothomio's shirt 17 was taken up by new signing Rodriguez Shamamba.
Furthermore, the forward was left out of the Vipers 2023/24 squad, leaving the player with one option- to leave.
However, a reliable source intimated to Pulse Uganda Sports that despite the apparent 'release', Vipers purportedly wants to keep hold of the player.

Soltilo Bright Stars FC emerged fifth in the FUFA Super 8 tournament after edging Vipers SC after spot-kicks at the St Mary's Stadium, Kitende.
Vipers reportedly want to force the player to join another club on a loan deal and return to an uncertain future at the club.
At the same time, Rwothomio hopes FUFA will rule in favour of securing a release letter, making his exit from Vipers official.
He reportedly wants a club where he will be trusted to deliver. He is also not demanding payment of his one-year contract left at the club.
