Olmo in limbo
Olmo was one of two main transfer targets the Catalan giants pursued last summer. While they missed out on Athletic Club winger Nico Williams, they managed to land the ex-Leipzig man.
However, it was not without complications as their financial situation prevented them from being able to register him. An unfortunate injury to Andreas Christensen soon provided Barcelona with a temporary means to register Olmo, however, they needed to sort their finances before the end of the year to make it permanent.
In the past few days, the Blaugrana have been scrambling, and they sued LALIGA for the rights to register Olmo, alongside Pau Victor who is in a similar situation. They were unsuccessful.
What Olmo's agent said
There have been reports that, worked into the Spaniard’s contract, is a clause that would allow him to leave for free in the January transfer window should the Blaugrana fail in their bid to register him.
His agent has now come out to dispel the rumours, informing Fabrizio Romano that his client is staying put.
“The decision made by Dani is to STAY at Barcelona as he wants play for Barça,” Bara said. “We are NOT considering any other option. Dani wants to play for Barcelona.”
