Ogun State will host the National Sports Festival for the second time in the history of the state in 2024.
The Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun has vowed that his administration is committed to delivering a world-class national Sports Festival in the history of the country.
Pulse Sports reported that Ogun State won the bid to host the 22nd edition of the National Sports Festival in Delta State.
Abiodun Confident of successful hosting
Abiodun disclosed this at the grand finale of the State 5-Aside Street Soccer Tournament, held in Abeokuta, the State capital.
The Governor was represented by his Special Assistant on Youth and Sports, Olamide Lawal.
The Governor remarked that the state government's signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Federal Ministry of Sports demonstrated a serious commitment to hosting the NSF.

Ogun State will host the National Sports Festival for the second time in the history of the state in 2024.
He continued by saying that all preparations have been done and the appropriate parties have been involved.
The Governor said “The government is also putting its mind into sports development now and that is one of the reasons why the Governor effortlessly bided for the hosting of the National Sports Festival and to the glory of God, we have won it, we have signed MoU and the Governor has assured that Ogun State is going to give the best of National festival in the history of Nigeria.
“The Governor himself knows what it takes to host the best National Festival and he is a man of his word. The Governor said the State is going to host the best National Sports Festival and the commitment is unwavering and intact. The bidding is just a catalyst to turn around the sporting activities of the State.
“Look at the covering of the M.K. O Abiola stadium seats, they thought it will not be possible but within a short period of time, the stadium was covered”.
Abiodun added that all plans are intact for the success of the Festival.

Dapo Abiodun redeems financial promises to National Sports Festival medalists
Ogun state won 70 medals at the National Sports Festival in Delta State.
He added, “Everything planned is on the ground, the consultant is working, and various companies have been engaged. As soon as the governor is sworn in, the action will continue to roll.
“This tournament has fulfilled his primary objective, objective in the sense that, we are bringing young people from the streets, most of them that don’t have a club but have the talent in them and help them showcase it to the world.
“We have used this tournament to also engaged them so as to discourage them from social vices. We have used this competition to empower them. We have created activities for them and it is a means to develop sports in Ogun State”.
In the State's Sports sector, Abiodun, who promised that the competition would continue, urged for more public-private partnerships because the government cannot promote sports on its own.
He said “In our bid to ensure the sustainability of this concept, we are doing it in line with the vision of the Governor to make sure that there is Public Private Partnership.
This competition as you can see we are doing it with iHouse limited and we believe that when this first edition is done, more things will follow”.

The Head of Admin, iHouse Limited, Ibrahim Nasir, claimed that to find additional talents for the State, they teamed with the State government.
He claimed that they saw athletics as a tool for bringing people together and involving young people in useful activities.
The Tigers of Ewekoro LG were defeated by Victory FC of Ifo local government in the decisive game by a score of two goals to one.
Future Stars of Yewa South LG defeated Bright Stars of Ijebu North by three goals in the third-place game.

OGUN SWAN appeals to Dapo Abiodun to rehabilitate the state's first stadium
Muda Lawal Stadium is the state's first stadium, and it was renamed after one of the late sons of the state, Mudashiru Lawal, a member of the victorious Green Eagles that won the Nations Cup in 1980.
The winner receives N500,000, while the first and second-place finishers each received N300,000 and N200,000, respectively.
Tobiloba Adekunle, the coach of the winning squad, thanked the organizers for setting up the competition, calling it a dream come true.
Ogun State rewards gold medalists with N1 million
Pulse Sports reported that the Ogun state governor, Dapo Abiodun, rewarded the state gold medalist with one million naira at the 21st national sports festival in Delta State.
Ogun state contingent finished eighth on the log with a total number of 70 medals, 15 gold medals, 18 silver, and 37 bronze medals at the just concluded National sports festival in Delta state.
