Newly appointed URA FC head coach David Obua wants his former players to take the lead in ensuring a concrete rebuild of football in the country.

Months back, Obua graduated with a UEFA A Diploma, an advanced coaching award from Belfast in Northern Ireland, and intends to use the experience and knowledge acquired to develop the game in Uganda.

In a collective effort with his former teammates and other ex-internationals, Obua feels they can change the face of football.

"I want to encourage my former teammates (to know) that football is ours," the tactician said, in his interview with URA.

"We have to make sure that we build another group of people that can lead football into another direction."

"And I know that it will come because I've studied this and I'm a person who has no fear for failure," the former attacker added.

A number of Obua's former Uganda Cranes teammates have joined coaching and are directly or indirectly mentoring the new generation of stars.

Ibrahim Ssekagya is the head coach for New York Red Bulls 2, Tonny Mawejje is deputy coach at Kampala Queens while Hassan Wasswa is in the top seat at University of East Africa football team.

Others including Edgar Watson (FUFA CEO), Eugene Sseppuya (football agent), Sulaiman Mutyaba (coach) and many more are helping to develop football in various capacities.
