Four players from champions Delta Queens secured spots in the Best XI of the 2022/2023 NWFL Premiership as revealed on Tuesday.
Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) Premiership has released the team of the season following the end of the Super Six tournament, with a healthy scattering of six finalists included in the season's finest players.
Following the Super Six in Asaba, members of the NWFL advisory group named the Best XI, which included players from five clubs.
Four players from champions Delta Queens secured spots in the Best XI of the 2022/2023 NWFL Premiership as revealed on Tuesday.
Delta Queens won the the League with an impressive 2-1 victory over 2021/2022 winners, Bayelsa Queens in the final on Sunday, the Asaba-based team emerged as the champions of the top-flight women’s football league in Nigeria and several individuals stood out with their exceptional performances.
NWFL Best XI of the 2022/23 season
Mgbechi Anderline demonstrated excellent skill in goal, allowing just two goals during the NWFL Premiership Super Six while making outstanding saves to aid in her team's achievement of an undefeated record and eventual championship.
Taiwo Afolabi, another outstanding player, ably controlled the midfield.
Omokwo Mercy, who led the league in scoring with nine goals, earned a spot on the offensive line with Agoh Chinaza, the season's most valuable player.
Tosan Blankson's team won the league for the first time in 11 years thanks to a decisive brace from Agoh. Bayelsa Queens, who finished as runners-up, also had three players in the Best XI.

Igwe Uzoamaka, the team's captain, showed off her defensive prowess, and the midfield partnership of Sabastine Flourish and Edet Glory made a key contribution to the team's success.
The Best XI is completed by Alani Jumoke (Edo Queens) and Esther Onyenezide (FC Robo Queens), two defensive players from the third-placed Rivers Angels.
