Former Uganda Cranes captain Denis Onyango might have not played a minute in the six games Mamelodi Sundowns played to win the inaugural African Football League title but he added another continental trophy to his trophy cabin.
South African side Mamelodi Sundowns defeated Wydad Casablanca 2-0 and 3-2 on aggregate to lift Africa's third club football title after the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup.
Onyango was part of the Sundowns team that won the 2016 CAF Champions League becoming the only Ugandan to achieve the feat.

It was sparked by Peter Shalulile, recently returned from injury, who scored the opening goal in first-half stoppage time. Aubrey Modiba added the second goal in the second half, sealing the victory.
Shalulile’s first goal came from a rebound off a long-range shot by Teboho Mokoena. The second goal followed a quick-paced start to the second half, with Mokoena intercepting a pass and chipping the ball over Wydad's advancing keeper.

Wydad, needing a goal to push the game to penalties or two to win, opened up their play but couldn't breach Sundowns' defense. The home team managed to maintain possession and control the game until the final whistle.
The victory was met with an eruption of joy at the stadium, as fans and players alike celebrated this monumental achievement.
